Youth Meeting at Little Ivy Baptist in Mars Hill

Pastor will be preaching at the monthly youth meeting at Little Ivy Baptist in Mars Hill, NC, on Friday, October 23, at 7:00 P.M.  The church family is invited to attend.

Fall Family Get-Together and Prayer Meeting

Every fifth Saturday night, the Progress Baptist Church family has an old-fashioned cottage prayer meeting! During the month of October, we will have our last 5th Saturday for the year 2015. We will have a good time of fellowship and food at the Youngblood’s farm in Hooper’s Creek; eating around 5:00 P.M. Then at 6:00, we’ll gather together, sing some good songs, have a message from God’s Word, share our requests, and spend some time in prayer. Come and bring a friend!

Thanksgiving Revival

Our Thanksgiving Revival will be November 14 – 16, 2015, with Evangelist Dean McNeese preaching. The service on Saturday will begin at 6:00 P.M. On Sunday, we will have Sunday School at 10:00 A.M., preaching at 11:00, and evening service at 6:00. Monday evening’s service will begin at 7:00. We invite our friends in western North Carolina, the upstate of South Carolina, and surrounding areas to enjoy these special services with us.

New Mover Outreach Continues for 2015

A new outreach for Progress Baptist Church has been to notify new movers in the WNC region about our church and invite them to visit with us. In addition to a “welcome” card, our members have followed up with personal notes and at times, visits. This past Wednesday evening, our church family took 200 new names. Each of these have already received the first card that welcomes them to our area. We are praying for these families by name and asking God to bless them and work in their lives for His glory. Each of them will also receive a follow up card with a personal invitation to the church, an offer to receive a Bible, and an opportunity to enroll in a Bible study course. In addition, the church family has been encouraged to be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit and to visit as many of these folks as possible.

The most important thing we can do for anyone who does not know the Lord is to pray. Our church desires to bear fruit “that remains” (John 15:16). Let’s join our hearts together for our region and ask Him to give us a harvest of souls.

Resurrection Sunday, April 5

Please join us Sunday, April 5, at 11:00 A.M. as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Remember, just three days before He arose, His followers believed that everything they had poured their lives into was gone forever. Little did they know, that He would gloriously arise in just three days!

So, wherever you find yourself in life, come join us at Progress Baptist on Easter Sunday to hear the glorious message of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He’s still changing lives!

He Is Risen!

Philippians 3:10 “That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death.”

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the central theme of the New Testament. As powerful as the parting of the Red Sea in the Old Testament, the resurrection is the cornerstone of the Christian faith. What believers often fail to remember is that a resurrection must be preceded by suffering and death.

Jesus said in John 12:24, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.” There will be no fruit-bearing, no “fruit that remains” until there is death to self.

As we meditate and rejoice in the power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, remember that it requires suffering and ultimately, death to self, before the world around us can see a demonstration of His resurrection power working in and through us!
